This section will take you through dilation, for which I suggest a silicone dilator set. I do not suggest plastic. With this you will need a lubricant, Water or oil based.

In a recent postpartum study (Banei et al 2020) the prevalence for painful intercourse was reported as 35% (that’s a very hight 1 in 3 moms!)More specifically the prevalence at:- 2 months postpartum: 42%- 2-6 months postpartum: 43%- 6-12 months postpartum: 22% (a full year later! Who is Candice Jane Langford?
Candice Langford is a physiotherapist working in the field of pelvic and sexual health, with an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of individuals through her expertise and empathetic approach. Her career that has taken her from her private practice in her country of South Africa to the Cayman Islands where she has embraced free diving (reminiscent of her first BSc degree in Marine Biology and Ecology).
After completing her degree in Physiotherapy, Candice pursued her passion for specialized care by delving into pelvic and sexual health physiotherapy. Her insatiable curiosity and dedication led her to pursue continued certifications, including training in pelvic floor rehabilitation, sexual dysfunction, trauma, pain management and related areas. Her unrelenting pursuit of knowledge keeps her at the forefront of evidence based intervention, allowing her to provide the best possible care to her patients.
Candice is intentional about understanding the sensitive and personal nature of her patients’ concerns, and this insight has shaped her psychologically-informed approach. What this is not…
This course is not a one size fits all approach to managing vaginismus symptoms, I don’t believe in that approach to care and even here, through online content, I want better than that for you!
I put a lot of thought into what it meant to create a “method” or a “protocol”, that would certainly be convenient but it’s not what works in practice, so.. it’s not going to work here.
Instead, this is an opportunity for learning and empowerment, created in such way that you will be able to implement various changes into your unique context to change and enrich your current experiences.
